Peugeot 505 Ventilation Keys

By Alfredo Daniel Rezinovsky

My Peugeot 505 has 7 keys in the ventilation console. 5 of them are exclusive. 2 are toggle.

The mechanism that handles the lock and release, in exclusion and toggling is in different part or the key. So if any key can't click and do what it's supposed to do, you can just switch two different types and you will get a new mechanism in both.

The keys are made of four basic parts:
   1. The outer park (black plastic).
   2. The inner part (transparent plastic)
   3. The spring "metallic, with a white plastic guide"
   4. The label.

You should keep the labels and the transparent parts in place when switching keys, The transparent parts are not all the same, some of them have an electric contact.

After opening the console. remove the pneumatic (white plastic) guide.
Remove the spring that holds the toggling bar and the bar (black, on a side).
Remove any problematic key and any of the other type being aware of the metallic guide disc in the toggling keys.
Take off the white plastic with spring (or at lest the outer part) so you can unlock the transparent part and open the key pushing in the label. Rebuild the two keys switching the outer part.

Then installing and testing the console, remember that the pneumatic system only works with the engine.

Good luck.
