Remove the plugs, get a test lead of 10 ga wire (the same size as the plug wire) with alligator clips or eyelets. Fasten one end to the plug contact, lay and hold the plug (at the threads & body) (DO NOT TOUCH THE TIP) on the ground side of the battery & touch the Pos. For a 7 second plug count or time to 7 seconds and watch the tip. It should start becoming bright red at the tip and work its way up the plug from 2/3 to 3/4 the way up. If after the time limit the plug does not get red, starts in the middle or goes only half way up, the plug is bad. Preheat plugs are like spark plugs and should be changed on a regular basis.
It is the season for sunroof failure. To bring you youngun's in line with the old-timers, it is possible that the sheath has separated and it does not allow the cable to grip. It would be a good idea to get one of those tools they use to remove door panels. The nylon fasteners are anchored in that pressed board, which can be easily torn. While removing the roof interior be careful with the rear light housing as it is plastic and the clips snapped on it. Remove the complete old cable, you take PVC soft tubing (it came in rolls instead of lengths) and measured the old length of the casing between the anchor and the motor gear housing. Remove cable from housing and cut housing an inch or so from the ends. Paint the ends and the PVC, with PVC Purple (glue) and quickly insert into PVC, let dry. reassemble reinstall. New cable at 1/4 the cost.
While you are in there, check the drains to make sure they are working. Someone once emailed me and said that he found out that some mud wasps had made a nice little nest in one of his drains. I think someone in the archives suggested Velcro tape for problem areas on reassembly, but I can't vouch for it.
