| THE TALES OF THE LION QUEST [Peugeot 205] My Little Peugeot
By Val Savidan - Auckland (finalist)I love my little Peugeot It really is so cute, I take it to the grocer's And fill up all the boot! Then I go in search of chairs And spy a matching four, I can't believe my luck, you know I couldn't ask for more! I offer cash! Am I that rash? The seller ignores the phone... 'There is one snag With this 'sale gag', We can't deliver to your home!" I look at him and give a smile, I say "It's not a worry", He looks relieved for a little while. And proceeds to light a durrie. As I back my car up to the door He drops the fag with dropping jaw, "You'll never get these chairs in there!" His tone is sure - is this a dare? I reach my hands up to the roof And chick the catch - I'll give him proof! In one full sweep I push the hood, His eyes light up - he's understood! Four chairs go in - there's room to spare And I don't care if people stare! We need a ladder... so it takes its place Between the chairs, as a wedge, just in case! I love my little Peugeot It really is quite neat, I always keep it polished And sit proudly in the seat. After hols (holidays, Hugo) in Coromandel I head back to my place, When north meets south at Bombay Hill I slow down -: there is no race. Everyone is slowly sweltering All cramped up in their seats, I flick my hood up quickly Fresh air replaces heat! Once on the final stretch of road It's a cool and pleasant run, My Peugeot holds the road so well I can watch the setting sun! I love my little Peugeot It really is a beaut I couldn't have got a better buy If I'd had one made to suit. My Cj 205 model Has lovely lines and curves, It's ever so reliable And never ever swerves. My husband says it is a 'dag' It seems to run on an 'oily rag' Since '89 when it was new, The trips to the workshop Have been very few. The odd new tyre, An adjusted brake, A mandatory check, For safety's sake. At the push of a switch There is instant heat, And don't forget ergonomic Fully contoured seats. And the upholstery - it's no fades Its 100% naturale ... and it never fades, And, best of all, when lights turn to green It outdoes 'off-roaders' - does this French machine-! I love my little Peugeot It's the greatest of all cars, It'll transgress the new millennium Then, who knows ... maybe Mars! Go back to Top of this page |
